The appeal is part of a wide-ranging report by Physicians for Human Rights into what it calls "unprecedented" levels of tear gas use by Bahraini security forces. The kingdom's majority Shiites began an uprising more than 18 months ago seeking greater rights from the ruling Sunni monarchy. More than 50 people have died in the unrest. The report cites claims that some were hit by tear gas canisters or suffered fatal respiratory complications. Bahrain authorities had no immediate response to Wednesday's report.
